In the early phases of his career Tjerk was a consultant and partner at HayGroup. His focus was to support -mainly- European multinationals with the development of their organisations and with the implementation of innovative programs aimed at detecting and developing their talent and leadership.

Tjerk was then recruited by one of his clients: Philips Electronics. He was appointed as the HR leader of the Consumer Electronics division. After a few years he became the HR director of  the entire corporation. In this role he led a multi-year program to bring the HR function of the group to world class levels. At Philips, he was as a member of the Group Management Committee closely involved in leading the overall enterprise.

His next step was Dubai where he was HR director of the Majid Al Futtaim Group, a rapidly-growing family-owned company engaged in retail and related real estate throughout the Middle East.

Tjerk then moved to Geneva to take on the role of Chief Administrative Officer of STMicroelectronics, a leading European manufacturer of semiconductors with operations around the world. He was responsible for a number of corporate functions, including HR, legal affairs, intellectual property and sustainable development.

The variety of industries and countries where Tjerk was active have yielded a rich insight into managing enterprises in some of the most competitive industries.

As a result of this and because he has been a senior executive at the forefront of the leadership of multinational companies, his advisory work and coaching have natural depth, authority and practical business benefit.

This painting was created for Tjerk in 1999 as a farewell gift from his global HR team at Philips Consumer Electronics when he went on to become the HR director of the Philips corporation. All of the team members have participated in making the painting. The picture with the bridge and the hands has since accompanied him to his workplaces. This painting was the inspiration for Tjerk’s logo today.
